Q: What is your role on the True South Solar team?
I am the Technical Sales Manager for True South Solar. When I started True South Solar with Eric Hansen 12 years ago, I was an installer and I’m still a licensed solar electrician. These days managing sales and design takes up most of my time.
Q: What’s your favorite part of the job?
Our mission is solar on every roof and best jobs ever. Solar on every roof happens when our customers tell their friends they had a good experience with us, and our customers have a good experience with us when our crew shows up to work feeling great about what they do. So my favorite part of the job is hearing from our customers that they loved their experience with our team.
Q: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned since joining the team?
Never stop learning. With policy, technology, and the economy, the solar business landscape is ever changing. Luckily we have some terrific industry blogs and I do my best to stay up to speed.
Q: When did you first start thinking about solar?
My first solar connected work was as an editorial photographer for Solar Pro and Home Power magazines. I was able to see and shoot all sorts of systems from utility scale to off-gird urban farmstead. It was a great education. I was able to meet and photograph many of the solar pioneers who started this industry. I’m incredibly lucky to have that connection to solar’s roots.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in the sun?
I love climbing on rocks and paddling on lakes, especially as the sun goes down.
