Residents can get a credit on their Oregon income taxes for adding a solar energy system to their homes. Under Oregon’s RETC (Residential Energy Tax Credit) program, homeowners are eligible for up to $6,000 credit on state taxes for installation of solar electric systems. The 40-year-old program, is set to expire December 2017.

Q: What do you do on the TSS team?
I’m currently a licensed LRT (Limited Renewables Technician) Apprentice and take classes at Rogue Community College to learn the trade. I am a materials handler, which is an important role on the installation crew. I help make sure we have the right equipment in place on the jobsite to safely and cleanly install solar panels.
SunPower has again set a new solar power panel efficiency record, according to the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). SunPower has reached 24.1 percent efficiency – surpassing the previous world record for the highest efficiency of a solar panel using silicon cells.
Q: What’s your role on the TSS team?
I assist with any initial questions folks have about going solar (which is easy), and set them up with a solar advisor to help design a customized energy solution.

Helping people go solar while in the Rogue Valley has really made this the best job I’ve ever had.

True South Solar just installed a 27.8 kW array of solar panels on Mt. Ashland! Mt. Ashland now has 85 panels on the ski area vehicle shop roof, this will offset 12% of energy use at the ski area! The project is being supported in part by Pacific Power's Blue Sky Program customers, the Energy Trust of Oregon, and True South Solar.
