Q: What is your role on the True South Solar team?
My role with True South Solar is a materials handler and soon-to-be Apprentice in the Renewable Energy Technician Program. I am a general laborer, tasked with anything from moving around our new warehouse to installing modules on our customers homes.
Q: What’s your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is knowing every job we complete as a company is helping the planet in some way. Cleaning up our home in any way possible with renewable energy is always going to be the greatest job I could ask for. Another part of the job I love is the people I work with every day, I could not ask for a better group of people.
Q: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned since joining the team?
The most important lesson I’ve learned from starting this job has to be that there is always a better way to do things, for our planet, for others and for yourself. Seeing the bigger picture while working on the small details will always make for a better result.
Q: When did you first start thinking about solar?
I first started thinking about solar when my brother and fellow coworker Shaun Franks, went to school for it in 2010. He showed me the benefits of solar when I was only twelve, since then I have always thought of a different way I could start to help my home. My mother and father were also avid in recycling and disposing of waste correctly, which ultimately led me to a renewable energy field like solar.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in the sun?
My Favorite thing to do in the sun is watch my nephews soccer games and hiking Table Rock. If my nephews aren’t playing or if the trail isn’t nice to walk, I like to go play basketball at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park with a bunch of friends.
